Sergei Mitrokhin: “The trial over the prisoners of the Bolotnaya Square rallies is terrorism”
Press Release, June 24, 2013
The leader of the YABLOKO party Sergei Mitrokhin has visited the trial in the Moscow City Court over twelve prisoners of the rallies in Bolotnaya Square, Moscow. Mitrokhin called the trial “terrorism”.
Sergei Mitrokhin said that there was no doubt that all the charges had been fabricated. “This is meant to be an act of intimidation for the people who are going to participate in the rallies. They need to know that they can get into such a situation. This is done on purpose and has nothing to do with justice,” said the leader of YABLOKO in the intermission of the trial.
He called the trial “terrorism” and reiterated that such a trial was aiming at intimidation.
Sergei Mitrokhin promised to regularly attend the court so that to support the defendants. “These young people have become victims of arbitrariness of the government. Also they are victims of not quite reasonable and adequate behaviour of some of the opposition leaders,” Mitrokhin noted.
