Press release, 07.02.2017
On February 7, Moscow YABLOKO Chair Sergei Mitrokhin and party activists conducted a protest action outside Russia’s FSB intelligence agency demanding to release detained activist Mark Galperin and journalist Olga Sapronova. Sapronova was release 40 minutes after the picket began.
Olga Sapronova told Sergei Mitrokhin that the FSB agents had broken into her flat in the morning and had detained her. She signed a gagging order but told Mitrokhin that she was accused of extremism. Mark Galperin was released later that day.
“We are going to use all legal means to resist anti-constitutional lawlessness,” Mitrokhin noted.
Earlier the Moscow branch of YABLOKO issued a statement condemning violation of the citizens’ right to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression.
