Sergei Mitrokhin, YABLOKO leader and candidate for Mayor of Moscow, spent several hours in the central streets of Moscow, where people protesting against the sentence to Alexei Navalny and a member of YABLOKO Pyotr Ofitserov gathered.
Mitrokhin moved from one place to another not allowing to the police (as candidate to the Moscow Mayor) to snatch people from sidewalks.
Dozens of party activists, as well as oppositional politician Gennady Gudkov nominated by YABLOKO to run for Governor of the Moscow region, participated in the event. One YABLOKO activists was arrested. He is municipal council deputy in the KOnkovo district Sergei Sokolov.
YABLOKO called the verdict to Navalny and Ofitserov “politically motivated cruelty”. “The Russian government has once again demonstrated that it considers court as a tool for political reprisals against its opponents,” runs YABLOKO’s statement.
