The Moscow YABLOKO Regional Council recommended candidates to be considered by the party conference to run in 41 precincts in the Moscow parliamentary elections. The meeting of the Regional Council lasted for seven hours and finished late at night. The candidates represented YABLOKO, other democratic parties and movements and independent candidates.

The Verkh-Isetsky district court of Ekaterinburg denied parole to Ex Chair of the Sverdlovsk branch of YABLOKO Maxim Petlin. The reasons for the denial were not announced. Petlin can appeal against the decision within 10 days. Read more »

The bills should always have a specific author and should be introduced on behalf of deputies not the bodies of St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly. At the moment the bills of the commissions and committees are anonymous which makes the lawmaking process non-transparent and corruptogenic. Head of YABLOKO faction in St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly Grigory Yavlinsky introduced an amendment to Charter of St.Petersburg which will correct the situation. Read more »

YABLOKO consider the gubernatorial elections in the Pskov region a federal task and in case of win the party will implement its programme on regional economic development including the transfer of land to citizens free of charge for housing construction. The Russian government have been discussing the initiative of extension of the retirement age for a long time. This way the Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov proposed to decrease budget burden. Head of the Russian industrialists and entrepreneurs union Alexandr Shokhin claimed both men and women should retire at the age of 60[now women retire at the age of 55]. But you will say that Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev disapproved of this reform. Yes, Putin promised that there won’t be amendments to the Constitution, promised to increase GPD by two times by 2008 and claimed that the Crimea was the internal matter of Ukraine. Read more »

Moscow Youth YABLOKO conducted a series of one-person pickets against the new arrests in connection with the Bolotnaya Square rally case, searches in the YABLOKO office and the flats of civil activists, toughening the legislation and strengthening the TV propaganda. The action which was held in the style of surrealist Rene Magritte was conducted at Tverskaya Street, Moscow. Chair of Moscow Youth YABLOKO Oleg Naumov was attacked by an unknown man who accused the activists of being spies and wanting “the American scenario”. He also tore the banner.
