Sergei Mitrokhin on imprisonment of Alexander Kostenko
YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin: Five years of imprisonment for some people guilty of corruption amounting to billions of roubles and four years for a bruise at Maidan. Today a court in Simferopol, Crimea, sentenced Alexader Kostenko to 4 years and 2 months of imprisonment. The court considered it a proven fact that being at Maidan Kostenko had thrown a stone to a Berkut militiaman causing harm to the health (as a bruise) of the latter. A criminal case was raised in the Russian Federation without any grounds: the alleged crime had been made in Kiyv; neither the accused Kostenko, nor the ‘victim’ had been citizens of Russia. I consider this sentence a political one! The court of the higher instance must overturn this sentence.
