These nine applicants are YABLOKO’s MP in the Pskov Legislative Assembly Lev Shlosberg, human rights defender Ivan Pavlov, journalist Grigory Pasko, Timur Olyevsky and others. Grigory Yavlinsky’s statement on his readiness to participate in the presidential elections in Russia in 2018, was made by us [in YABLOKO] in the context of the upcoming regional elections, which launches a new political cycle. The YABLOKO party issued a Memorandum of Political Alternative. This is a document, which candidates who will run from YABLOKO (including those who are not members of our party) on our party lists and in single-mandate constituencies. Former head of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet theatre Boris Mezdrich will head YABLOKO list of candidates at the elections to the Lagislative Assembly of the Novosibirsk region.
Boris Mezdrich was dismissed in March 2015 because of the scandal around Richard Wagner’s opera Tannhauser put on by theatre director Timofei Kulyabin. The play was honored by the audience and music critics but offended the feelings of religious people. Read more »

The marriage of 17-year-old Kheda Goylabiyeva and Chechen police chief Nazhud Guchigov under support of Ramzan Kadyrov, leader of Chechnya, is a dangerous precedent of a come-back to traditional practices which are contrary to the Consitution principals. It is a case of obvious underage forced marriage, possibly as a second wife. The occurrence which was widely observed by mass media didn’t get an adequate estimation on behalf of the Russian authorities. In return, Ramzan Kadyrov, who had once again defiantly violated the law and Constitution of Russia, threatened the journalists who had critically observed the situation and called the husbands to prohibit the Chechen women to observe the wedding facts in social networks.
