It has turned 16 years since Vladimir Putin came in power. He was appointed President not least in order to ensure the inviolability of the fraudulent results of privatisation – almost free transfer of the most profitable state-owned assets to a ‘narrow circle of friends’ via the so-called ‘loans for shares’ auctions. This arrangement has been maintained until recently: the oligarchs who know well how they got the property were ‘milked’, frightened, blackmailed and even imprisoned, but the principles of criminal scheme of assets distribution were not questioned. On 22 March, Chair of the Altai branch of YABLOKO Alexander Goncharenko and Chair of the local branch of PARNAS Gennady Sheida signed a declaration on the formation of the electoral coalition on YABLOKO’s platform at the elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Altai Territory. Vladimir Ryzhkov is going to stand for the State Duma as YABLOKO’s candidate and support Grigory Yavlinsky’s candidacy at the presidential elections. The sentence passed today on Nadezhda Savchenko is inseparable from the military, political and media campaign launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine two years ago. Unlawful actions of the Russian authorities against Ukraine also include the trial on Savchenko. And this sentence – like a shot from a gun – is part of the war. Read more »
