Lev Shlosberg nominated for Boris Nemtsov Prize

On 21 May, the Board of the Boris Nemtsov Foundation will make the final decision on who will be awarded the Boris Nemtsov Prize for Courage. The winner will be announced at the awarding ceremony which will take place in Bonn on 12 June.
Activist [and political prisoner] Ildar Dadin, Chair of the Pskov branch of YABLOKO Lev Shlosberg, writer Victor Shenderovich, founder of the Foundation for Fighting Corruption Alexei Navalny and Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko are among the five nominees. It was reported on the website of Novaya Gazeta where the voting had taken place on Friday, 13 May.

Chair of YABLOKO Federal Political Committee Grigory Yavlinsky proposed to nominate Sergei Mitrokhin, Chair of Moscow YABLOKO, candidate for Moscow Mayor at the elections of 2018. “I think that in 2018, when the elections take place, YABLOKO will participate in them. And we will have a tandem between the candidates – presidential and mayoral. In this case I mean Sergei Mitrokhin’s candidacy,” TASS quoted Yavlinsky, who had been nominated the party candidate at the presidential elections of 2018. According to Yavlinsky, despite the fact that Mitrokhin did not get a very high result [at Moscow Mayoral elections in 2013], he was anyway “far superior to the other candidates”. He recommended the delegates of the Moscow regional conference to re-elect Mitrokhin for the post of Chairman for another two years.

Moscow YABLOKO elected new governing bodies

Today the conference of the Moscow YABLOKO has elected the governing bodies of the party branch. Sergei Mitrokhin was re-elected Chair for another two years term. 40 delegates of the conference voted in favor of his candidacy, 14 voted against, 2 ballots were recognised void. The elections took place on a non-competitive base as Vladimir Lukin, one of YABLOKO founders who resumed his membership in the party, and Galina Mikhaleva, First Deputy Chair of Moscow YABLOKO, rejected the nomination by the delegates.

Renowned ex Russia’s Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin resumed his membership in YABLOKO

According with the requirements of the Russian law ombudsmen should be non-partisan. In memoriam of those who gave their lives for freedom, independence and the future of Russia
