On April 6, the Moscow branch of Yabloko conducted a round table on the demolition of five-storey apartment blocks. In February the Moscow government launched a mass-scale project on the renovation of the housing fund, which involves the demolition of about 8000 apartment blocks constructed in 1950-1972 and rehousing about 1,6 million Muscovites. The scale of the project resulted into the necessity of amendments to the federal legislation, which were introduced to the State Duma. At the same time, the project did not undergo any preliminary public discussion, and the possible consequence of the project still remain unclear. In order to fill up the deficit of information Yabloko organised a round table and invited architectures, city developers, housing experts, sociologists and activists. The experts discovered a large number of defects in the project of the Moscow government: from technical details to its constitutionality.

A correspondent of the RBC Novosibirsk Media Agency interviewed Yabloko Deputy Chair Nikolai Rybakov
– Nikolai Igorevich, you were present at the rally against the construction of the landfill site. What do you think about the action?
– One can see that people realise what they are fighting for. They were caught on the raw. The situation is typical for many regions of Russia. There are examples of small victories. They take place when initiative groups do not retreat for the line of resistance. If you relax for a moment, the fight is lost. Read more »

Yabloko is almost the only party in Russia where the number of women members is (though slightly) higher than the number of men. In addition, what is even more surprising, only in Yabloko about 90 per cent of party members have a higher education. Moreover, it was Yabloko, the only one among other political heavyweights, which elected a women as its leader. Emilia SLABUNOVA, who was elected Yabloko Chair in December 2015, told Daria Garmonenko, a Nezavisimaya Gazeta correspondent, about the difficulties of a woman’s path in politics, her relationship with male colleagues and, of course, about the perspectives of the party not only in the presidential election, but in general.Read more »
On political parallels and assessment of the events of 1917
Novaya Gazeta, 03.04.2017
In the absence of a modern and honest assessment of what happened [in Russia] one hundred years ago, the Russian public consciousness is doomed to flounder between the idea of a revolution as a blessing and the only way to achieve change, and the idea of safeguarding the current government at all costs as the only possible form guaranteeing the existence in the modern world. The political parallels between 1917 and 2017, and the evaluation of the events that happened a hundred years ago are discussed by economist and politician Grigory Yavlinsky.

Sergei Mitrokhin, Chair of the Moscow branch of YABLOKO: Together with Galina Mikhaleva, on behalf of the Moscow branch of YABLOKO, we have laid flowers to the Permanent Mission of St. Petersburg in Moscow. Eternal memory to the deceased! Ignominy to terrorists. And this is another charge against the Russian authorities: it was through their fault, that the law enforcement and the security forces are engaged in the prevention of opposition activities, rather than prevention of terrorism. I would like to remind you that three days ago, the UK strengthened its measures of antiterrorist security on vulnerable facilities. We have not done this, as if Russia is situated on a different planet, and does not fight with ISIS in Syria. Read more »
