On the search in the house of Alexander Korovainy, leader of Yabloko’s Green Russia faction in Krasnodar
Statement by Nikolai Rybakov and Olga Tsepilova, 18.11.2020
Today, on 18 November, 2020, a search was conducted in the private house of Alexander Korovainy, Chairman of the Krasnodar regional branch of the Green Russia faction of the Yabloko party and deputy of the Yeisk City Council. The search began at 6 o’clock in the morning
All communication devices of Alexander Korovainy and his relatives were seized: phones, tablet devices, laptops and hard drives of stationary computers. Nikita Nesterenko, a deputy of the Yeisk City Council, who hurried to the place of the search, also had his phone seized.
During the search, a lawyer was not allowed to see Alexander Korovainy.
The search is connected with another hunt for “undesirable” organisations, which Alexander Korovainy has nothing to do with. Simultaneously, another search was carried out in Krasnodar in the house of Andrei Rudomakha, leader of the Northern Caucasus Environmental Watch.
Again, repressive laws are being used to pressure local activists.
The Yabloko party demands to end their persecution.
The laws on “undesirable” organisations and “foreign agents” must be abolished.
Nikolay Rybakov,
Yabloko Chairman
Olga Tsepilova
Chair of Yabloko’s Green Russia Faction
