Nikolai Rybakov: Yabloko will help to collect signatures to all independent democratic candidates so that could register in the election race
Ekho Moskvi radio station, 27.06.2019
On the threashold of the Moscow City Duma elections, many again began to discuss the everlasting topic of the Russian politics – the “inability of the opposition to unite” and the intra-specific struggle of democrats hindering the common cause. In my opinion, there is no point to grieve about this: coalitions should be formed in a natural way, based on common values, programmes and methods, rather than formally common signs.
I, nevertheless, have always believed that we should help each other in difficult situations, especially when it comes to the barriers placed for us. And even more so, where there is no direct competition between us.
As you know, now both Yabloko and those who have not received the blessing from the Moscow Mayor’s Office and the Presidential Administration have great difficulties in collecting signatures [in their favour so that to be registered as candidates in the election]. Not all the nominees could predict that this barrier would be so difficult to overcome. Now, residents of many [Moscow] districts are running the risk of having no alternative in this election and no decent people on the ballots.
Therefore, I am informing you: Yabloko is ready to provide its infrastructure to candidates from all democratic forces nominated in the districts where there are no our candidates and help to collect signatures, in particular, use the point in our central headquarters in Pyatnitskaya street and points on the ring metro line. We do not put any additional conditions, we are waiting for your subscription lists.
We will be happy to help!
