Yabloko Chairman met with local residents and deputies of the City Council of Kaliningrad

Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov arrived in the Kaliningrad region on Wednesday, August 18. During his stay in Kaliningrad he also visited Zelenogradsk, and the towns of Mezhdurechye and Kamenskoye.

During his visit to Zelenogradsk, the Yabloko Chairman met with residents of blocks of flats on the sea coast. The local authorities sold the land under the blocks of flats, and now the residents of the houses cannot sell their apartments. The authorities’ promises to provide residents with alternative housing were not implemented.

Nikolai Rybakov also talked with the residents of an apartment building constructed before the World War 2. Local authorities repaired the façade of this house, but did not bother about the repairs inside or from the backside of the house.

After visiting Zelenogradsk, Nikolai Rybakov went to Mezhdurechye. Local residents complained to the Chairman of Yabloko about the absence of a community centre building in the town (the previous building was demolished several years ago), problems with water supply and the lack of sewage treatment facilities. In the village of Kamenskoye, Nikolai Rybakov discussed with local residents infrastructure problems: poor road conditions and lack of playgrounds for children.

In all the cases, the Yabloko Chairman promised to bring the discussion of problems to the federal level.

Later in the day Nikolai Rybakov met with Alexandra Yakovleva, deputy of the Kaliningrad City Council, and held a meeting with the party’s activists. During the meeting, the activities of the party in the region were discussed. The participants discussed technologies for pre-election debates, campaigning, work at polling stations and communication with observers.

Before the single voting day on September 13, Nikolai Rybakov will be visiting the regions where Yabloko takes part in the regional or local elections. On August 20, the Chairman of the party will pay a visit to Neftekamsk, and on August 21, to Rzhev.
