Nikolai Rybakov participated in meeting of delegates of the IPU Assembly

On 15th October, Yabloko Deputy Chair Nikolai Rybakv gave a speech at the meeting of national parliament deputies, who are members of parties represented in Liberal International. The event was held as part of the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in St. Petersburg.
Nikolai Rybakov spoke about Yabloko’s success in municipal election, the party’s activities in the country as well as the work of Yabloko’s factions in regional parliaments.
The delegates also discussed the relations of different cultures. The situation with the new role of the Russian Orthodox Church was actively discussed. “Yabloko stands for a secular state, artistic freedom and freedom of speech. Any censorship is unacceptable,” Rybakov stressed.
They also discussed the situation with gay men persecution in the Chechen Republic.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly is an international organisation that unites the parliaments of 173 countries. It was founded in 1889. Nikolai Rybakov is member of the LI official delegation, which was granted the status of a permanent observer of the IPU.
