Nikolai Rybakov and Boris Vishnevsky honoured the memory of St. Petersburg doctors who died during the COVID-19 epidemic
Press Release, 13.11.2020
Yabloko party Chairman Nikolai Rybakov and Boris Vishnevsky, head of the Yabloko faction in the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, took part in events in memory of St. Petersburg doctors who died in the fight against COVID-19.
At the beginning of the day, Rybakov and Vishnevsky visited the Memorial Wall of doctors in Malaya Sadovaya Street, opposite the Medical University. St. Petersburge residents have been bringing here plates with photographs and the names of doctors who died during the pandemic.
Further Rybakov and Vishnevsky took part in the laying of a new monument at this place: the Sad Angel by Roman Shustrov. It will replace the Memorial Wall that from now on will be maintained online.
“These are people of completely different ages and professions – from hospital aides, nurses and drivers to professors and doctors of science. They are true, not painted heroes who gave their lives for the lives of other people,” Nikolai Rybakov wrote on his Facebook page after visiting the memorial.
“Now our entire society is passing the test for the ability to solidarity. Because the state is clearly not capable of solidarity with us. It throws out billions of roubles to support dictators in all parts of the world, missiles, tanks and eccentric projects of a planetary scale, but it is not ready to support our doctors, and virtually all of us, at a difficult moment. Our deepest gratitude to the doctors for their stamina and courage!” the head of Yabloko stressed.
