Mitrokhin demands to prosecute Zhirinovsky for Nazi statements
Press Release, October 25, 2013
YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin sent an appeal to the Investigative Committee with the demand to bring a criminal case against Vladimir Zhirinovsky, leader of LDPR faction in the State Duma, under the article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “inciting ethnic hatred and enmity”. According to Mitrokhin, Zhirinovsky should be prosecuted for the statements he expressed at the Talk show “Poyedinok” (“Duel”) on October 24, 2013.
On the air of “Poyedinok” hosted by a famous journalist Vladimir Solovyev, Zhirinovsky called to limit the birth rate in the North Caucasus by introducing fines for the birth of a third child. Besides, he proposed to limit the movement of the Caucasians by “surrounding the territory of the Caucasus with a barbed wire”.
Sergei Mitrokhin claims that Zhirinovsky’s statements are of Nazi nature.
YABLOKO leader believes that Zhirinovsky’s statements are aimed to undermine Russia’s statehood as a multinational country and are eventually targeted to disintegrate Russia.
