Mitrokhin about police brutal actions in arresting people who gathered to support political prisoners of the Bolotnaya Rally case
Press Release, February 21, 2014
YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin and party activists came to Zamoskvoretsky Moscow Court where trial over Bolotnaya Rally prisoners was taking place.
Eight people from the Bolotnaya Rally were accused of participating in a “mass-scale riot and use of force against police” during protests of May 6, 2012. Prosecutors asked the judge to give them from five to six years of imprisonment. The prisoners insist on their innocence and complete acquittance.
Police was detaining people who were peacefully standing in the court yard waiting for the court verdict to the prisoners. Yury Turin, member of Youth YABLOKO, was detained by the police and taken to the police station.
“I came here not only to support the prisoners of the Bolotnaya Rally case, but also to register all the illegal actions of the law enforcement that are taking place before our eyes – people are violently detained just at random. I will send an appeal to Public Prosecutor General about this,” said YABLOKO leader.
