Mikail Amosov on the problems of parks and public gardens in St. Petersburg
Press release, 06.06.2017
Deputy of St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly from Yabloko’s faction Mikhail Amosov discussed the problems of parks and public garden in the city on air of the Partburo radio programme.
The deputy was one of those who developed the city law on the public green areas, which helped fixing the boarders of parks and public gardens and preserved them from destruction and development.
“The law is being constantly criticised,[officials] are trying to amend it all the time, however, the law plays an important role preserving the green areas of the city,” Mikhail Amosov claims.
Nevertheless, according to Mikhail Amosov, St. Petersburg still has some problems with green areas including the lack of green spaces in the city centre.
“I believe we should create more green spaces in St. Peterburg instead of developing them because it is much easier to develop parks than to preserve the environment in our city,” says the deputy.
