MEMORANDUM ON POLITICAL STANCE
by the YABLOKO party and candidate from the party in the elections to the Moscow City Duma
1. The European vector of development based on the values of democracy, human rights, rule of law and inviolability of private property have no alternatives in Russia. Vladimir Putin’s policies towards international isolation of Russia and the conflict with the Western world are adverse to the national interests of our country.
2. Bolshevism and Stalinism are misanthropic ideologies and practices, as well as fascism, national socialism, etc. As long as the state does not officially condemn the crimes of Bolshevism and Stalinism, it is impossible to build a law-governed state in Russia.
3. Nationalism in all its forms and manifestations is as unacceptable both from a moral point of view, and because it undermines the foundations of Russia’s statehood as a multinational country.
4. Transition from the authoritarian to the democratic regime must not be forceful, should be carried out in a constitutional way. Revolutionary upheavals are fraught with bloodshed and disintegration of the country.
5. Russia needs reforms targeted at complete separation of business and government, which were merged due to the erroneous policies of 1990-2000s.
6. Russia’s annexation of Crimea can not be recognized as legitimate, as it is contrary to international law, agreements signed by Russia are sets a precedent for similar actions against Russia in the future.
7. Moscow needs political reforms targeted at a transfer from an authoritarian system of government to a real separation of powers, the full-fledged local governance, transparency of the legislative and the executive authority and their accountability to Muscovites.
