On 11 March, members of the Yabloko party in the Republic of Kalmykia held single pickets near the People’s Khural of Kalmykia (the parliament of Kalmykia) demanding to abolish the practices of unreasonable granting of tax benefits to certain business companies.
In particular, Yabloko activists call for the abolition of the 1.5 billion roubles tax break granted to the Fortum company and call on the largest companies operating in Kalmykia (Lukoil, KTK) to pay the taxes to the region in full.
According to the Chairman of the Kalmykian branch of Yabloko Batyr Boromangnayev, Yabloko activist Sanal Molotkov was detained after a single picket and taken to the city police department. He was handed a police summons for 12 March.
Activists of the regional branch of the party note that the deputies of the parliament of Kalmykia are going, on the order of the head of the Republic Batu Khasikov, to provide tax breaks in the amount of 1.5 billion roubles to the Wind Energy Development Fund (a joint investment fund of the energy company Fortum and Rosnano), which participated in putting into operation (in the fall of 2020) of two wind power plants in the Republic of Kalmykia with a total capacity of 200 MW.
Earlier, activists of the Kalmykian branch of Yabloko have already held single pickets with similar demands.
