Lev Shlosberg, leader of the Pskov branch of YABLOKO, nominated to run for the Governor of the Pskov region

On June 12 delegates of the Conference of the Pskov branch of the Russian United Democratic Party YABLOKO nominated head of the branch and MP of the regional parliament Lev Shlosberg to run for the Governor of the Pskov Region.
His candidacy was unanimously approved by the delegates of the conference.
Addressing the conference Lev Shlosberg said, “We all have a very difficult election campaign ahead. Our task is not just run in the elections and prove that we can overcome the administrative barriers. Our main task is to present and explain all the residents of the Pskov Region a real alternative to the political and economic policies of the present Governor. Our task is to bring to hundreds of thousands of people our programme of development of the Pskov Region…”
He also noted that his and YABLOKO’s programme is targeted at the development of modern regional economy, support of the agricultural sector, protection of environment, strengthening of local self-governing, strengthening of municipal budgets, protection of residents in small towns and rural areas, transparent and for citizens efficient housing and utilities sector, construction of roads, healthcare and education, availability of social benefits, preservation of historical heritage and culture, support of young people, respect to people of different political views and provision of civil peace in the region.
Gubernatorial elections in the Pskov region will take place on September 14, 2014.
