On 14 May, Andrei Babushkin, a human rights defender and a member of the Yabloko party since 1999, passed away at the age of 58. Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov, and Grigory Yavlinsky, head of the Federal Political Committee of the party, express their condolences.
– Our friend, colleague, and like-minded person Andrei Babushkin, a real defender of people who helped everyone who turned to him, passed away.
Andrei Babushkin lived for people. Everyone knew that if no one could help, they had to go to Andrei Babushkin: he would come up with something and find a way out. So it went on for many years. Everyone knew him. He could open any door. He spared no effort to help everyone, but he did not help himself.
Even against the background of today’s tragic news that we all live with, the death of Andrei Babushkin stands out for its suddenness and the feeling of a gaping hole that has formed with his passing away, which is still impossible to either understand or accept.
Heart grief and pain!
We share this tragedy with family, friends and everyone who knew and loved Andrei Babushkin.
