Grigory Yavlinsky to give a press conference on the results of the Time to Return Home campaign and the plans for his presidential campaign
Press release, 19.09.2017
On Thursday, 21st September, a press conference on the results of Yabloko’s Time to Return Home anti-war campaign and the plans for Grigory Yavlinsky’s presidential campaign will take place at the central office of the Interfax news agency.
The participants of the press conference are:
Grigory Yavlinsky, Chair of Yabloko’s Federal Political Committee and a candidate for president of Russia;
Alexander Gnezdilov, Yabloko Deputy Chair;
Nikolai Rybakov, Yabloko Deputy Chair, head of the United Election Headquarters of the party.
Collection of signatures for Russia’s withdrawal from the war in Syria was launched within the framework of the Time to Return Home campaign targeted at allotting federal budget funds to Russia’s domestic development, not to foreign policy ambitions and adventures. According to Yabloko’s calculations, over 140 billion roubles have been spent on Russia’s military operations in Syria. Time to Return Home is part of Grigory Yavlinsky presidential election campaign.
The decision to nominate Grigory Yavlinsky Yabloko’s candidate in the presidential elections (that will take place in March, 2018) was made at the party congress in February, 2016. The party will have to collect at least 100,000 signatures in order to register its candidate. Moreover, the amount of signatures collected in one constituency should not exceed 2,000.
Grigory Yavlinsky has already run in the presidential race. In 1996 he moved into a forth place. In 2000 he came third. He was withdrawn from the elections under political grounds in 2012.
