Grigory Yavlinsky: “They are trying to draw Russia into another war”
Grigory Yavlinsky web-site, 03.04.2016
Alarming news come from the Caucasus. In Karabakh there are active military actions with already a lot of victims from both the Azerbaijani and the Armenian side. Perhaps it is Turkey that has been tacitly pushing Baku to a military conflict with Yerevan. Russia has obligations before Armenia under the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO), and therefore, can not stay away. Thus, Turkey may try to draw Russia into another war and distract it from the zone of its interests in Syria.
However, Turkey may, once again tacitly, deploy military and political activity on another front, in Crimea, establishing cooperation with the local Tatar community. Rumours on such plans are coming from Turkey. Therefore, even if the situation is now limited to a local conflict and does not will result in a new war, it may be a matter of time under the emerging state of affairs. Certainly, it will not resolve on its own.
