Press Release, 30.10.2015
Today, on the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression, YABLOKO founder Grigory Yavlinsky, laid flowers to the Solovetsky Stone in Lubyanka Square in Moscow. Yavlinsky said that the political terror that took the lives of millions of people was “the most terrible crime against Russia, against the future of our country.”
Yavlinsky also added that there was no political acknowledgement of these crimes, there was no state judgment on Bolshevism and Stalinism, that led to this tragedy, no conclusions were made.”
“Therefore, the risk of recurrence of political reprisals is always there, every day, it is there in political practices in our country. One has only to look around, look at what happens with books, what happens in different communities, for example in the scientific community, it will be obvious that the wave of reaction increases, ” stressed Grigory Yavlinsky.
According to Yavlinsky, Russia has no future if the state does not acknowledge the crimes of Bolshevism and Stalinism.
Yesterday an annual action paying tribute to the victims of political reprisals took place by the Solovetsky Stone – The Return of Names, organized by the Memorial society. Activists and leaders of YABLOKO traditionally took part in it. Grigory Yavlinsky was in St. Petersburg on that day.
