Grigory Yavlinsky: “ Boris Nemtsov’s murder resembles a showcase execution”
Grigory Yavlinsky said that Boris Nemtsov’s murder resembled a showcase execution. He made this statement when answering questions from journalists after the funeral of Boris Nemtsov at the Troyekurovskoye cemetery.
Grigory Yavlinsky noted: “Boris Nemtsov’s murder resembles a showcase execution in the form of an act of terror. Executions are always carried out publicly to intimidate. He was murdered because he expressed his views openly. He also said that Russia should not fight against Ukraine, and that Russians should not kill Ukrainians and Ukrainians should not kill Russians. He was killed for such statements, in a bid to silence everybody else, so that everyone would stay silent out of fear.”
Previously YABLOKO’s founder declared that political responsibility for this act lay fairly and squarely with “the authorities in general and President Putin in particular – with the people who started the war, conducted the war and implemented a propaganda campaign of hate in support of the war.”In the morning Grigory Yavlinsky took part together with YABLOKO Chairman Sergei Mitrokhin in the mourning ceremony at the Sakharov Center.
