Galina Shirshina tops YABLOKO list of candidates to the City Council of the capital of Karelia
Galina Shirshina, ex-Mayor of Petrozavodsk and Advisor to YABLOKO Chair, has topped the list of the party in the elections to the Petrozavodsk City Council. Such decision has been adopted by the Regional Council of the Karelian YABLOKO today.
The list includes three candidates: number two is Vladimir Fedosov, deputy of the Petrozavodsk City Council at present and teacher of School No 46; number three is Galina Karasova, Chair of the Petrozavodsk Veterans’ Council.
The list of YABLOKO is made up of 14 regional teams, each with three candidates, 42 people in total. They include Dmitry Rybakov, member of the Federal Bureau of the Party and senior researcher at the Institute of Geology of the Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences, Ivan Gusev, Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper Karelskaya Gubernia, Valentina Nosova, Chair of the Veterans’ Council of one of the districts in Petrozavodsk, Natalia Dyachkova, repeated champion of Russia and Europe in Thai boxing, and Dmitry Makeyev, deputy of the Petrozavodsk City Council.
Also, YABLOKO has put forward candidates in 14 single-mandate constituencies, including teacher Maxim Ivanov and head of the children’s ensemble “Petrovskaya Sloboda” Irina Iodko.
The elections to the Petrozavodsk City Council will be held on a single voting day 18 September.
Galina Shirshina will also run for the State Duma, she is number eight in the top ten candidates of the party.
Earlier in July a Regional Conference of the Karelian branch of the party nominated candidates to the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia. The list is topped by YABLOKO Chair Emilia Slabunova.
