Explanation from the YABLOKO Press Service on party’s coaltion policies
The Russian United Democratic Party YABLOKO regards the statement of the Parnas party on the political union [with YABLOKO] be a response to the Coalition proposal of our party made on 23 January.
[Our] Party proceeds from the fact that public offer a political union by Parnas means that they welcome our proposals from the Memorandum of Political Alternative, in particular the following:
– rejection of revolutions, non-violent and constitutional transition from authoritarianism to democracy;
– the need to eliminate the oligarchic system, complete separation of business and government merged together in the 1990s and 2000s .;
– rejection of militarization of the country and the transition from a resource-based to a high-tech economy;
– rejection of Bolshevism, Stalinism, nationalism and religious fundamentalism;
– recognition of Ukraine’s sovereignty within the borders of 2013; solution of the problem of Crimea by means of a legitimate referendum recognized by the UN;
– investigation of all the facts of corruption in the Government, the Presidential Administration, law enforcement agencies, state-owned companies and state corporations.
Our understanding of fair and respectful political competition, as defined in the Coalition proposal of 23 January, includes different forms of interaction and cooperation. On the basis of the provisions of the Memorandum, we are open to discussion of all the proposals with Parnas.
At the same time, serious and responsible attitude to politics and voters’ interests requires a sober assessment of the existing capacities and inadmissibility of political disorientation of supporters of freedom and democracy, encouraging people’s expectations that can not be realised.
The issue of cooperation is not a subject for speculation on the expectations and hopes of the supporters. Therefore, any negotiation process should be very clear to the public.
The main task of the liberal and democratic forces in 2016 is coming to the State Duma of Russia as an important step to a subsequent consolidated participation and victory in the presidential election in 2018.
This requires addressing the widest layers of citizens, the people of Russia through participation in the elections without mutual attacks in the media and social networks, without collisions in single-mandate electoral districts.
The goal of our party is a free and modern country, [where] the law is the same for all, with inviolability of private property, unconditional observance of human rights and freedoms, safety and security of the citizens of Russia. YABLOKO is ready for extensive negotiations and cooperation for reaching this goal.
