Emilia Slabunova claims that the expenditure on culture in Karelia must be raised

Emilia Slabunova, YABLOKO Chair and deputy of the Karelian Legislative Assembly, proposed to raise the expenditure on culture in the Republic of Karelia. She proposed to support The Museum of Fine Arts, The National Museum and the National Library.
The deputy amended the draft budget for 2017 proposing to raise subsidies for cultural state-financed organisations by 10 million 440 thousand roubles.
“The museum received one million roubles due to my amendment last year. With this money they bought 36 works by Karelian artists, now the modern period of Karelian art is reflected in the museum’s collection. However, the money was not enough to buy all the selected works. If my amendment is passed this year, the museum will have an opportunity to buy them,” Emilia Slabunova noted.
Emilia Slabunova’s amendments will be considered on Monday, 5th December.
