The alteration of the situation in the country and reforms are only possible after the political system is changed, says Emilia Slabunova, Yabloko Chair, during a meeting with the party supporters in Dubna, the Moscow Region.
The crisis of the system in Russia if of a political nature, and we have to solve the political issue for the changes to begin. There is a demand for changes in the society, people want changes. The government realise this and create a vision of changes, for instance, they appoint new governors, the politician explains.
In response to the demand for changes they offer us talks about the image of the future. The authorities create an illusion that if one is talking about the future, it will sure to take place. But there will be no future because one cannot reform this system, she says.
You can change the political situation by voting for a substantial alternative to the government. Yabloko is such an alternative.
The programme of the party called “Respect for a person” contains Yabloko’s proposals on all the spheres of life of the society and state.
Policy should be aimed at improving the wellbeing of people, therefore the state must invest into education, healthcare and science. Dubna is a technology city and it is especially important to support science here. The competitiveness of Russia depends on Dubna a lot, Yabloko Chair notes. And the competitiveness of a country is defined by the level of science and technology development.
The state must give much attention to scientists, scientific centres and technology cities and create the environment for the life and work of the residents, she explained.
Yabloko’s recent campaign “Time to Return Home” was dedicated to the domestic development of the country. The key idea of the campaign was that Russia should stop spending federal budget funds on foreign policy ambitions and adventures (including the war in Syria), and allot these funds to the development of Russia’s economy and social sphere. Yabloko managed t collect over 107.000 signatures in support of the initiative.
Emilia Slabunova said that Yabloko enjoyed support in Dubna. For instance, the party gained 6.3 per cent of votes in the general election of 2016. The party has a representative in the city council. Yabloko Chair expressed hope that Yabloko would improve its election performance in Dubna in the next election to the city council in two years time.
