Double standards do not flatter the Mayor
Open letter to Sergei Sobyanin, Moscow Mayor, and collection of signatures on change.org, 20.02.2015
Tomorrow a progovermnet “Anti-Maidan” rally will take place at the Revolution Square, near the Kremlin. The action has got a permission by the Moscow authorities.
Today, the Mayor’s Office denied the opposition forces the opportunity to hold a demonstration on the 1 of March in the center of Moscow (from the Beloryssky railway station along Tverskaya street to the Revolution Square). Instead, [the Mayor’s Office] mockingly offered a route in a residential area in the ourskirts of the city.
According to Article 31 of the Russian Constitution, the citizens who disagree with the government, have the same rights as its supporters.
I demand that unlawful decisions are cancelled and a permission to the demonstration in Tverskaya Street is given.
I am ready on behalf of the YABLOKO party to negotiate a different route of the march in the city center.
Muscovites elected you Mayor not so that you could trample on their constitutional rights so openly and in such a rude manner.
Sergei Mitrokhin
Chairman of the YABLOKO party
