Boris Vishnevsky, MP of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg and Deputy Chairman of the Yabloko party, made a speech in the St. Petersburg parliament on the issue of amending the regional Social Code on the provision of social support and payments to St. Petersburg residents who were hit or affected during the “special military operation” on the territory of Ukraine.
As soon as Vishnevsky started speaking about the need to stop hostilities leading to victims and recalled the proposals of the Yabloko Congress on a ceasefire in Ukraine and peace negotiations, Alexander Belsky, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, turned off his microphone.
Here come abstracts from Boris Vishnevsky’s speech almost completely muted by the Speaker:
“…Even more important is the question so that there would be no need for such support and such laws. So that there are no wounded and dead in hostilities, no matter how they are called – “restoration of e the constitutional order”, “enforcement of peace” or a “special operation”.
Once again, from this rostrum, I reiterate the proposal for the Congress of the Yabloko party, a party that has always stood for peace and with such a programme has received the support of a significant number of St. Petersburg residents:
– On the need to conclude, as soon as possible, an agreement of a ceasefire in Ukraine, which will allow negotiations on further steps to achieve a truce, and then peace;
– On the need for an exchange of prisoners based on the general principle of “all for all”;
– On the need for an independent and impartial investigation of all reports of possible war crimes.
The sooner this is done, the less there will be wounded and dead, the less there will be tragedies and losses.”
