Grigory Yavlinsky, the founder of Yabloko, is celebrating his 70th birthday today. Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, former Deputy Prime Minister of the USSR, MP of the State Duma and the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, Grigory Yavlinsky remains a figure standing out among all the other in the socio-political field in Russia.

For all his years in the big-league politics, Yavlinsky was able to retain his main quality – remaining human in any circumstances and defend humanistic ideals with all his passion.

For almost 30 years, he has consistently opposed war. Any war.

In the 1990s, Yavlinsky was the only politician to condemn the bombings of both Grozny, Chechnya, and Belgrade, Serbia. Since 2014, he has been trying to overcome total indifference and misunderstanding so that to prevent a terrible tragedy in Ukraine.

Today we would like to congratulate Grigory Yavlinsky on his anniversary and wish him good health and fulfillment of his dream of peace in Ukraine and Russia.
