Austrian result is a vote of confidence in Liberalism
Responding to news that NEOS – Das Neue Österreich, in alliance with ALDE Party member Liberales Forum, has crossed the threshold for representation in the Austrian general election, ALDE Party President Sir Graham Watson said:
“This is much more than a straightforward political outcome. It is a vote of confidence in the power of Liberalism to offer a solution to the problems facing our society.”
“Less than a year after its creation, NEOS has dismantled the governing coalition of Conservatives and Socialists. There will also now be a new voice challenging the status quo in Austria’s parliament.”
“I warmly congratulate Matthias Strolz and Angelika Mlinar on their success. The ALDE Party is looking forward to working with them in the run-up to the European Parliamentary elections to make sure Austrian liberal voices will be heard and taken into account in Europe.”
