Anatoly Golov: thousands of tourists ran out of money and cannot return home
Anatoly Golov’s blog, 17.07.2014
Many of you should know that a large travel agency “Neva” took the benefit of the bankrupt. Several thousand tourist from Russia who are the clients of the agency and are abroad at the moment have been reporting about accommodation problems in Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Spain for about a week.
The Federal Rescue Service is getting ready to evacuate them. Several hundred people are sure to have problems with home-coming. 17 thousand people are trying to get their money back. But the travel agency doesn’t answer the phone.
The people are suffering as the present insurance mechanism was made in the interest of insurance companies and officials not the travelers.
Upon my initiative the Consumer Union of Russia have already proposed the direct insurance system similar to the medical insurance which every tourists gets. In this case a tourist can address an insurance company directly and demand the protection of their rights (in terms of payment for a hotel and flight).
The present system is non-effective and is of interest to insurance companies, officials and crooks which is proved by the case with the Neva travel agency.
It’s another proof of the fact that the authorities don’t protect the interests of the citizens.
