On 24 November, an academic conference on political reprisals in Russia was organised by the Samara regional branch of the Yabloko party.
The reports were made by candidate of historical sciences Stanislav Repinetsky, members of the Yabloko party, candidates of historical sciences Igor Nefedov and Sergey Tselikov. At the end of the event, Nikita Mikhalenko, member of the board of the Samara branch of Yabloko, also made a report.
During the introductory lecture, Stanislav Repinetsky spoke about the formation of a repressive machine from ancient times to Russia until 1917. Igor Nefedov’s report dealt with reprisals in the USSR in the first half of the 20th century. The third, very emotional lecture was delivered by Sergei Tselikov and was dedicated to the atrocities of the Bolsheviks in the Volga region, as well as the subsequent famine and typhus.
Nikita Mikhalenko closed the event with a lecture on the persecution of the LGBT community in the USSR, as well as on compulsory psychiatry, which turned into a repressive apparatus of the state.
The activists of the regional branch of the part emphasise that each lecture was accompanied by a lively discussion with the audience, was held in a warm, friendly atmosphere, and almost four hours passed quickly. The Samara branch of Yabloko expresses its gratitude to the lecturers and all those caring people who attended the conference.
