Alexandra Cherenko opposes the government’s decision to close a tuberculosis early treatment centre
On August 18, Alexandra Cherenko, YABLOKO’s candidate for deputy of the St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly, participated in a protest action against the government’s decision to close a tuberculosis early treatment centre in the Pushkinsky district, St.Petersburg.
“Unfortunately, the situation is nearly critical. Not only the Pushkinsky district but the whole city may lose an institution, which has been helping its patients for years, by December. As usual, [the officials] neglect a person: tuberculosis is not a problem if it concerns someone else – this seems to be the logic of the officials. [I think], it is unacceptable,” Alexandra Cherenko explained.
She called everyone to sign a petition in support of the early treatment centre and noted that she was going to appeal to all governmental bodies with the demand to maintain the institution.
