Sergei Mitrokhin urges Alexei Navalny not to stand down from the Moscow mayoral election and go all the way
Press Release,July 18, 2013
YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin urged Alexei Navalny not to retreat
from the Moscow mayoral election and go all the way. Mitrokhin said
this in his interview to the Dozhd (Rain) private television channel.
Mitrokhin assessed the statement made by Alexey Navalny head quarters
on withdrawing from the election of the candidate as “a big mistake”.
“It seems to me that if Alexei adopt a decision on his own, he will go
all the way. I encourage Alexei not to adopt the decision [of his
electoral head quarters] and do not make a gift to the authorities
that imprisoned him,” Mitrokhin noted.
If Navlany decides not to participate in the election of the Mayor of
Moscow, Sergei Mitrokhin will have to change his election strategy.
“I’ll have to talk less about the Moscow problems and more talk about
the political regime under which we live, about the trends that lead
toward totalitarianism. I will use the possibilities of a candidate
for the post of Mayor not only for criticism of [acting Mayor] Sergei
Sobyanin and his absurd policies conducted in many fields. I will talk
about federal issues and, in particular, will appeal to Putin because
he is pushing the country to the precipice by such measures,”
Mitrokhin said in his interview to the Dozhd television channel.
