Press Release, 08.09.2014
YABLOKO candidates for Moscow City Duma deputies conducted one-person picketing in support of education. Yulia Galyamina (the 9th electoral district), Elena Rusakova (the 37th electoral district), Olga Radayeva (the 40th electoral district) and a teacher Larisa Rzhevskaya participated in the action.
The action took place outside the building where the second Moscow teachers’ convention was taking place. The activists held placards which said “Fair wage to a teacher!”, “Officials, don’t destroy schools!”, “Livanov (Minister of Education) should get a teacher’s salary!”, “A teacher should teach not exist”.
YABLOKO stands against teachers’ burden increase, merger of schools and kindergartens and for restoring of free additional courses system which was commercialized this year.
The organizer of the action Olga Radayeva considers that education system in Russia is being destroyed purposefully.”It isn’t the field which can give extra profit. We consider that a teacher should get fair salary and shouldn’t get that much paper work. The teacher should teach children and develop educational programmes”, she said.
By the end of the picket the participants of the action signed an agreement on common actions with the memeber of the cross-regional trade union Uchitel (a teacher) Vsevolod Lukhovitsky.
