A court hearing on the Alfa Bank lawsuit to YABLOKO to take place tomorrow
Press Release, 29.05.2014
Tomorrow, on May 30, a hearing on the lawsuit from Alfa Bank and one of its heads and oligarch Mikhail Fridman to YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin and Izvestia newspaper will take place in the Moscow Arbitration Court.
The lawsuit was caused by Sergei Mitrokhin’s statement made in his interview to Izvestia: “Alexei Navalny has been implementing a political order from the Alfa Group”.
The plaintiffs argue that Mitrokhin’s statements have caused them reputational damage, as the code of banking ethics prohibits banks to finance nationalists.
Sergei Mitrokhin, will insist that his statement is not defamatory as it is true, and that an organisation’s support of a particular politician can not cause damage to the organisation’s business reputation.
Alfa Bank claims 3.75 million roubles for the “reputational damage”.
The hearing will begin at 15:30.
Address: Bolshaya Tulskaya 17, room 3044.
