YABLOKO headed anti-war march in St.Petersburg
Press Release, 05.05.2014
The anti-war democratic march organised by the Democratic Petersburg coalition was conducted on March 1. More than 1500 people participated in the march which was followed by a rally.
The participants of the action expressed protest with the unleashing of a war, Putin’s aggressive imperial policy towards Ukraine and anti-Ukrainian propaganda of the Russian state mass media.
“The Russian authorities are the main nationalists who stir up hatred towards the Ukrainians,” said deputy of St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly Boris Vishnevsky. He also said that the anti-criminal revolution in Ukraine was a bright example of what could happen to the Russian authorities if the people stopped to stand them and released from them. “I support peace and the change of power by elections, but sometimes there are cases when the people have no other choice,” said the deputy.
Summing up, Vishnevsky expressed hope that in Russia the power would change peacefully and the citizens would support European values.
