Today is the 10th anniversary of Boris Nemtsov’s murder. In Moscow, Yabloko members came to the site of Boris Nemtsov’s murder on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge by the Kremlin and to his grave at the Troekurovsky Cemetery. In St. Petersburg, Yabloko members brought flowers to the Solovetsky Stone, a memorial to the victims of political repression, and will open a photo exhibition dedicated to the politician in the evening. In a number of cities, a film about Boris Nemtsov will be shown during Yabloko’s actions of writing letters in support of political prisoners.

Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov, speaking to the press at the site of Boris Nemtsov’s murder, noted that in a free Russia, a real, objective investigation will be initiated into what happened on the night of 27-28 February, 2015, several dozen meters from the Kremlin. And although it seems impossible now, but a memorial to the opposition politician will definitely emerge in Moscow.

It should be noted that earlier, an initiative group opened a collection of signatures under an appeal to the Moscow City Duma with a proposal to open a memorial at the site of Boris Nemtsov’s murder. Among the signatories were the Chairman of Yabloko Nikolai Rybakov, the Chairman of the party’s Federal Political Committee Grigory Yavlinsky, as well as other politicians, cultural and public figures. The petition collected more than 7,200 signatures.

“For me, the most important thing in Boris Nemtsov’s position was that he always spoke out against military methods of resolving conflicts, be it the Chechen or the Ukrainian conflict. And it seems to me that this is the main thing that he will go down in history for,” Nikolai Rybakov stated.
