The Volzhsky City Court (the Volgograd Region) found Alexander Yefimov, a member of the Federal Bureau of the Yabloko party, guilty of “participation in the activities of an undesirable organisation” and fined him 15,000 roubles.
The reason for drawing up an administrative protocol under Article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses was an interview that Yefimov gave to the Youtube channel of the Golos independent observers movement in December 2023. The authorities believe that Golos is part of the international non-governmental organisation the European Network of Election Monitoring Organisations (ENEMO), which was declared undesirable in Russia in 2021.
Alexander Yefimov intends to appeal the decision of the Volzhsky City Court to a higher instance court.
