Konstantin Smirnov, a deputy of the Dubrovichi rural settlement from the Yabloko party and Editor-in-Chief of the Internet web-site Vidsboku, sent an appeal to Governor of the Ryazan Region Pavel Malkov regarding liquidation of an illegal landfill on the territory of the settlement.
Smirnov notes in his letter that despite previous appeals to the Governor and Governor’s instructions to liquidate the landfill, this has not been done and the delivery of waste of unknown content goes on. “Moreover, on 5 March, the head of the Ryazan district administration, Natalya Zhuneva, announced that the landfill had been liquidated. That is, in this case Zhuneva is simply covering up the criminal business,” the appeal runs.
“All legal decisions necessary to liquidate the landfill, ban further transportation of waste to the site and punish those responsible have long been adopted at the level of both supervisory authorities and courts. All the information is supplied in my requests (including vehicles’ plate numbers and owners names) and in the inspection documentation. But officials are sabotaging the problem and your orders.
The most important thing is that the Oka river will soon flood again, which will cover the waste and continue polluting the river,” Smirnov notes.
Smirnov asks the Governor to finally give the order which will be implemented on liquidation of the landfill, banning transportation of waste to the site and punishing those responsible for the violations.
