The Yabloko Party University hosted a lecture by Pavel Kudyukin on trade unions in Russia

On 26 January, the Yabloko Party University hosted a lecture by Pavel Kudyukin “Trade Unions in Russia”. The lecturer, Pavel Kudyukin, is Co-Chairman of the University Solidarity Trade Union, member of the Council of the Confederation of Labour of Russia, and Deputy Minister of Labour of Russia in 1991-1993.
Pavel Kudyukin spoke in the lecture about the role of trade unions in the labour market (reducing the asymmetry of bargaining power in relations with the employer) and in civil society (the most massive organisations); the Soviet legacy in Russian trade unions and its oppressive influence on the development of the trade union movement; new (class and democratic) trade unions, their problems and prospects; and the real and the potential political role of trade unions.
