“Your letters warm the heart and give hope for a brighter future.” Yabloko sent more than a thousand letters to Russian political prisoners
Press Release, 4.04.2023
In March, the traditional actions of writing letters to political prisoners were held at the central office of the Yabloko party and Yabloko’s regional branches. Members and supporters of the party, as well as civil activists, have prepared more than a thousand letters and postcards that will be sent to those unjustly convicted or awaiting trial. Musical evenings were also held during the actions in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Yabloko reminds us that people deprived of their liberty really need our support. Often letters and postcards from the outside are the only connection to the world behind bars. Sometimes letters save lives. And they certainly give hope. Political prisoners report this in response letters.
Yabloko invites everyone who would like to send a few kind words and wishes to those unjustly deprived of their liberty to participate. Yabloko will help the participants to deal with the intricacies of how to write a letter to an imprisoned addressee, and will also take care of sending letters by mail. Please read our short guide (https://www.yabloko.ru/pisma-politzekam ) on how to write a letter for a political prisoner.
The next actions in support of those unjustly deprived of liberty will take place at the end of April.
