YABLOKO to participate in the anti-fascist manifestation

The YABLOKO party will take part in an anti-fascist manifestation in memory of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova. The action will be held in Moscow on January 19. YABLOKO’s column will be headed by its Chairprson Sergei Mitrokhin. YABLOKO supports the action every year.
According to the organisers of the event, the aim of the manifestation is to attract the attention of the citizens to the problems of neo-Nazi violence, xenophobia, chauvinism and discrimination based on the absence of the Russian citizenship and “non-Slavic appearance”.
The manifestation will start at 2 p.m. from Novopushkinsky Square along Tverskoy, Nikitsky, Gogolevsky Boulevards and end by the Kropotkinkaya metro station. The demonstrators will also be able to lay flowers at the place of death of Stanislav Markelov and Anastasiya Baburova (at the address: 1 Prechistenka street).
The anti-fascist actions will also take place in St.Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Milan, Kiev, Kerch, Ekaterinburg, Sevastopol and the other cities.
The activists and supporters of the YABLOKO party will gather by the beginning of the Novopushkinsky Square (Tverskaya metro station) at 1:45 p.m.
Lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova were killed in the centre of Moscow by neo-Nazis on January 19, 2009.
