Yabloko filed a notification with the Moscow Mayor’s Office that an anti-war march would be held in Moscow (from Strastnoy Boulevard to the intersection of Academician Sakharov Prospect with the Garden Ring) on 12 March.
The notification was signed by Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov, Maxim Kruglov, head of the Yabloko faction in the Moscow City Duma, Andrei Morev, head of the Yakimanka municipal district in Moscow, and Marina Karavayeva, a member of the Moscow Yabloko Regional Council.
According to Russian law, a notification of a procession or a rally must be submitted ten days before the planned date.
The declared theme of the procession is “an expression of the attitude of Muscovites to a special military operation” – this is how the Russian authorities call the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The declared number of participants of the march is up to 30,000 people.
Previously, Yabloko applied for mass anti-war actions in a number of Russian regions, including St. Petersburg. In most cities, the authorities denied to give Yabloko permissions for the actions. The picket was held only in the “Hyde Park” (a specially designated place where public actions do not require any coordination or permission from the authorities) in Chelyabinsk.
