The St. Petersburg City Court found no grounds for canceling the decision on registration of Viktor Boldin, the candidate to the Legislative Assembly from the Yabloko party in the single-mandate constituency No. 14 (Kalininsky District). The claim was filed by Alexei Zinchuk, the candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and Yabloko candidate’s rival. Zinchuk said that he was not going to appeal the decision of the City Court.
Zinchuk demanded to cancel the decision of the electoral commission on the registration of Viktor Boldin on the basis of an allegedly incorrect drawing up of an internal Yabloko document – an appendix to the decision of the Yabloko Federal Political Committee on the approval of candidates for the election of deputies to the Legislative Assembly in single-mandate constituencies. According to Zinchuk, the Chairman of the Federal Political Committee had had to certify the appendix at the place of stitching.
The court found no grounds for canceling the decision of the electoral commission to register Viktor Boldin for the elections. Boldin’s interests were represented in court by lawyer Alexander Kobrinsky.
It should be noted that past week two candidates from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation filed lawsuits to cancel the decisions of electoral commissions on registration of candidates for the Legislative Assembly from Yabloko. Both lawsuits based on the fact that the Yabloko candidates had allegedly submitted to the electoral commissions incorrectly drawn up internal Yabloko documents. However, the law does not establish requirements for the execution of these documents.
