The Kaliningrad branch of Yabloko and two voters filed a law suit in the Kaliningrad Regional Court. The law suit contests the decision of the Council of Deputies of the City of Kaliningrad to change the system of elections to the City Council from the mixed to the majority system.
The regional branch of the Yabloko party emphasises that the reason for going to court was the discrepancy between the announced number of deputies and the final one. Thus, the draft Resolution of the City Council, submitted for public discussion, mention 25 deputies (and, accordingly, electoral districts), and published final decision mentions 27 deputies (!). This figure did not appear in any documents discussed by the Council, or in the media, or at public hearings.
It should be noted that the hasty change of the Charter was initiated by the faction of the United Russia party [the ruling party] and caused indignation of representatives of all political forces in the region. Moreover, they intended to conduct it behind the scenes, which was prevented by activists of the Yabloko party, who revealed the fraud. Moreover, most of the citizens who attended the public hearings were against it.
