The Bashkirian branch of Yabloko hosted a meeting of human rights defenders dedicated to International Human Rights Day

The Bashkirian branch of Yabloko hosted a meeting of representatives of several political parties, three members of the Human Rights Council under the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan and civil activists. The meeting was dedicated to the protection of human rights and International Human Rights Day.
Human rights activists discussed violations of the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the authorities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The speakers noted that the rights of citizens to a decent economy, healthy and safe natural environment, favorable housing, equality of political and national rights and freedoms, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, as well as electoral rights were violated in Russia. According to the participants of the meeting, corruption of the authorities and dependence of courts, as well as the fact of having political prisoners in the country and the Republic, became shameful norms of everyday living.
Human rights defenders spoke about definite cases of human rights violations in the cities of Ufa, Neftekamsk, Sibay, Sterlitamak, Baymaksky, Ishimbaevsky, Karmaskalinsky and in other regions of Bashkiria in 2020.
In the final resolution of the meeting, Bashkirian human rights defenders, politicians and activists demanded that the necessary measures be taken to protect human rights and health of citizens in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the laws of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bashkortostan, they demanded to stop political persecution and release political prisoners.
In addition, before the meeting, the Chairman of the Bashkirian branch of the Yabloko party went to a single picket in defence of human rights in the centre of Ufa.
It should be noted that on 10 December, 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and later, in 1950, December 10 was declared International Human Rights Day.
